Dr. Andrzej Bartosiewicz

Telecommunication, Software Development and Internet Domain Names expert.

Graduated Ph.D. studies in the field of Computer Science at the Warsaw University of Technology in Poland. Author of over 150 publications and presentations in the International forums including inter alia International Telecommunication Union (ITU), UNESCO, United Nations, European Commission, IETF, ICANN and CENTR.

Member of the Board and Chairman of CENTR for four years (2006-2010). CENTR is an association of 50+ Internet Country Code Top Level Domain Registries such as .uk in the United Kingdom and .es in Spain.

Since 2005 Government's Representative and Head of Delegation of the Polish Government to the International Telecommunication Union and acting as Chairman and Rapporteur of the ITU-T Study Group in the field of Internationalized Domain Names.

Head of Domain Department of NASK (.PL Registry) for nine years since 2001. Under Andrzej's leadership, Polish registry become one of the most advanced Registry in the world. Andrzej as the first in Europe introduced automatic EPP protocol (2003), Internationalized Domain Names (2003), Wait List Service (2004), Domain Name Tasting (2007) and more. Andrzej changed the existing domain business model from direct registrations (until 2002) to the full Partnership program with 120+ registrars (Partners) and annual net growth over 30%. Polish registry with over 1.7 million domains registered in 2009 become fifth largest ccTLD Registry in Europe.

Member of the Domain Arbitration Committee at the Polish Chamber of Informatics and Telecommunication (2002-2003).

Team member of large scale local and international projects including IP Policy Manual Project led by International Telecommunication Union (ITU-T) and Number Portability Technical Team at Polish Office of Electronic Communications (NRA). Member of the Incident Response Working Group of ICANN.

Andrzej has long lasting software development background, working for COMARCH since 1996 and acting as Executive Director and Head of ERP Systems Division.

In the last 10 years, Andrzej has been working closely with many international institutions including:

  • European Commission (EC),
  • International Telecommunication Union (ITU),
  • European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI),
  • United Nations and UNESCO,
  • Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF),
  • Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN),
  • Council of European National Top Level Domain Registries (CENTR)
  • National Governments.

Andrzej is a member of Mensa since 1994 and Internet Society Poland since 2000.

Patrycja Wegrzynowicz
CTO

Software visionary and expert specializing in complex architectures, Java technologies and software security.

Finalizing Ph.D. in Computer Science at Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics, University of Warsaw, Poland. Author of many publications and presentations at the top academic and industry conferences including inter alia OOPSLA, ASE, JavaOne, JavaZone, Devoxx, Jazoon, CENTR and IETF.

Head of Software R&D Department at NASK (Research and Academic Computer Network) until 2010. Patrycja's strong vision and passion for software enabled her to build a highly competent software team at NASK. Under her leadership the team delivered many successful projects from within the business and research areas.

At NASK she shaped the future direction of technological research in software as well as acted as a chief architect and consultant on the projects from the fields of Internet domain names, large-scale digital archives and Internet security.

She was responsible for the design and development of the .PL Registry system dedicated for registration and maintenance of .PL domain names. As of 2010, the .PL Registry is one of the most advanced systems for existing ccTLDs and the first system in Europe to support EPP (2003), Internationalized Domain Names (2003), Wait List Service (2004) and Domain Name Tasting (2007).

Her technical analyses and proposals received funding of over 15 million EUR from the EU programs, the National Centre for Research and Development and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

Patrycja's research interests include:

  • automated software engineering, particularly software security and various code analysis techniques to support program comprehension, validation, verification and optimization,
  • architectural, design and code patterns and practices, more generally what makes good software good,
  • language semantics and compiler design.

In the last 10 years, Patrycja has been cooperating with or has been active at the following forums and institutions:
